Leaving Los Angeles… for a year? Pt.1

Did you ever dream of living in a place? Did you ever actually make it there? Was it everything you hoped it would be?

Well, let me start in the beginning. When I was young I always wanted to leave my hometown and live in Budapest. When I was 18 that dream came true and I loved it.

Then I wanted to live in London and in 2012 I finally made the move, but unfortunately it wasn’t as good as I thought it would be. I felt like I didn’t belong even though the city is gorgeous, I still felt like I needed to go back to Budapest.

Then in 2017 I got a chance to apply for an artist visa and had a chance to move to the USA. To the country that I’ve been longing to live in since I was about 15 years old, but I had no idea how. I always knew that I wanted to do everything the right way and it was finally my time.

Originally I wanted to go to New York City. That was my dream. But after talking to friends in the music business I decided I’m going to move to Los Angeles, CA. I knew nobody and had maybe $2000 in my pocket to start this new life with.

I was terrified of being alone, of driving in LA, of finding jobs, etc. But I did it because I was finally there. In the USA.

In the past 4 and a half years I grew to love LA: the beaches, the mountains, the art, the music, the food, found friends and found love. I was working in Beverly Hills at a Bloomingdale’s and performing at the Grafton Hotel on Sunset Blvd when Covid hit. Then everything shut down.

I was trapped in a tiny apartment with nowhere to go and nothing to do but wait. I felt trapped. Like we all did. Life slowly started up again just to be shut down again. It was very hard.

On the bright side we were able to save some money, so we decided to try and buy ourselves a cute condo that we can call our own. But life had other plans.

In late November 2021 my boyfriend got a call from a prestigious hotel in Dallas, Texas and they offered him a position of a lifetime. A huge stepping stone for him, but that meant we have to move to Dallas, Texas.

I’m not gonna lie, I took it really hard. We talked about it and felt like we needed a change. Our intentions of buying a condo were unsuccessful for 6 months so we took this as a sign.

I cried…a LOT. I didn’t want to let go of my California Dream…whatever it was at that point. I just felt like I wasn’t finished yet and that I was robbed of 2 years due to the pandemic. Like we all were.

But we decided to embark on this adventure. Since I was so hesitant to move, we agreed that we’re going to sign a 1-year lease on an apartment and talk about what we want before the lease is up. It sounds easy and fair, right? I thought so…

And then we arrived in Dallas. And I’m trying to make the best of it, but I just can’t shake the feeling of how much I miss California. I miss nature, the ocean, the sunsets, the palm trees, my go-to places. I just miss it. I didn’t want to leave, but for some reason I felt like I had to.

Sometimes life is funny that way. It presents a fantastic opportunity for someone and gives a challenge to the other person. I wish I loved it here. I wish I could see myself living here. I wish I could’ve brought my friends with me.

It’s only been a month and we don’t even have our furniture yet, so things can change. Nature will come alive in the spring, friends will come and visit.

The only things is I know myself…

To be continued…

The magical poppy field

There are so many gorgeous places in California that most of the time I’m in awe of the place where I have the pleasure to live. It’s truly magical and beautiful. When I heard about the poppy blooming because of the crazy amounts of rain we had… well, for California at least, I know I had to see it. It was only an hour and a half drive from where I live and since I could spend the day with my boo, it was double worth it. ☺️ Here’s some proof of the beauty we witnessed at the poppy fields.

I’m wearing Zara dress, Cape Robbin shoes, H&M headband, Rayban sunglasses, Zara wooden bag.

What’s your favorite flower? Have you visited any poppy fields?

The Antelope caves – beauty of nature

When one of my best friends came to visit me in LA for the first time, I knew I had to come up with some cool adventures. So since she’s a huge Britney Spears fan, Vegas would’ve been an obvious choice. But unfortunately she wasn’t playing during that time, so I had to come up with an alternative. And then I thought the Grand Canyon is an obvious choice for people who visit LA to go to, so we’re not going there. Lol Instead I surprised her with a visit to the Antelope caves, where Britney shot her famous ‘I’m not a girl, not yet a woman’ music video. She was super excited!

But we couldn’t not stop by Vegas on the way to Arizona and watch a show, so obviously we went to see the Backstreet Boys at Zappos Theater and had the most amazing time there. Due to my master travel planning skills… (*cough) we had a tour at 7am for the Antelope caves and the drive was 5 hours from Vegas… so you can guess what came next… yes, an all nighter with me driving in the desert πŸŒ΅πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

We got there just in time for a coffee and we were off to the caves on an open bus… πŸ₯Ά I know when we think of the desert we think hot and sand… well sand is true, but the hot?! No way! We froze our asses off on our way to the caves and in the caves! It was crazy cold! We were definitely not prepared for it. πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸ˜‚

But to be honest, it was all worth it! Our tour guide was very informative and told us all about the caves and their history, showed us great photo opps and even took some cool pictures of the 3 of us. 😊

Is to sum it up, I’d definitely recommend going to the Antelope caves, but be prepared for weather conditions and the sand. And now let’s see the breathtaking pictures:

This picture is supposed to have a candle on it. Can you see it?

This one shows a bear standing up. Can you spot it?

On this one you can see and actual Antelope on the left. See?

Here you can see an eye πŸ‘, right?

And here you can meet the three survivors, the iron ladies who fought the cold and the sleepless night and smiled pretty for this picture. πŸ˜‚πŸ₯Ά

Check out my awesome Antelope cave beanie without which I would’ve froze to death. πŸ₯ΆπŸ˜‚

In conclusion, this was a trio of a lifetime and I wouldn’t change a thing, although I’d probably plan it better next time… 😏 But honestly, I recommend this trip because it’s wonderful to see the untouched beauty nature creates around us.

Have you been to the Antelope caves? What’s your favorite travel destination?

Another day, another beach

So we just recently had a heat wave in LA and believe me, it was NO fun. 47 freakin’ degrees Celsius is something I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy…okay, maybe my worst enemy… for those of you living in the US, it was 120 degrees Farenheit. Bananas, right?!

So what does one do on hot days like this when there’s like dozens of beaches around…? I wonder… Ok, ok, just messin’ wit ya! Obviously I needed to go to a beach and this time it was Laguna Beach. So this post is more of a travel post than a fashion post, but still I had a super cute outfit on. LOL

Laguna Beach is famous for…well, the only thing I can think of right now, which I’m a little ashamed of, is a TV show… but anyways, it’s about an hour and 20 minutes from where I live at the moment, so not too bad. It was an easy drive as it was during a weekday. The only drama on the road was, that we accidentally drove on a toll road, but we got off at the first exit and I paid the toll the next day, so all is well with the worlds. LOL A little side note, I did not know that there were any roads around LA that you have to pay for…apparently I was wrong. Well, now I know! Haha

So we went to this place called The Deck on Laguna Beach and had some amazing Guacamole, which to be honest, I kind of got addicted to. I mean avocados, not guacamole per se, but still. And also, one of my new found favourite dishes, mussels and clams…well, more the mussels, but who cares really. Seafood fanatic alert!!!

Then we walked a little bit on the actual beach, where all the sand is and the water and I swear to God, this was the first time I actually wanted to go in to the water, but didn’t bring a swimsuit with me… LAME!

After that is was gelato time! We stood in line, like good Americans (one in training) to get our 2 scoops of gelato and some waffle cones. Yum! And while we waited in line I was the cutest chocolate shop ever with something called “Cloud Nine”. How cute?!

So let’s talk a little bit about my outfit, even though it’s super easy: Everything is from Zara! The shoes, the shorts, the shirt and even the little cute bag. I’m not a huge fan of jean shorts, I don’t really know why, maybe I just haven’t found the ONE yet, but I prefer silk, linen cotton or even leather shorts, but of course not in super hot weather. Yuck!

So that’s about it! I hope you enjoyed the little story time and let me know in the comments if you want more of these kinds of posts, or more about fashion, or music or even makeup or skincare! Until next time!

Kisses,

B

Show me your peacock

So a couple weeks ago my friends came to LA and brought me some clothes from home, so what is a fashionista’s first thought? Let’s do a photo shoot! πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸ˜‚

So I found this amazing photographer and we made some great shots! No, I mean GREAT shots! 😊 This is the first outfit we shot in San Pedro at the marina.

Even if it’s summertime, I try to do something fun or interesting in the outfit. This time I went with a colorful peacock bomber jacket and the amazing ‘delka’ fanny pack made by my Hungarian designer friend. I know it might be a debate if it’s cool or lame, but I think it’s all in how you wear it and I definitely wear it with pride and joy! πŸ’πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

The other main accessory were obviously the Dior sunglasses which, for a light eyed person, are life! I cannot go out without sunglasses on. It’s not even a joke! So here are the first batch of photos from San Pedro.

I’m wearing a Free People shirt, Zara bomber jacket, Gas jeans, Zara belt, delka fanny pack, Swarovski ring, Dior sunglasses.

What are your thoughts on fanny packs?

Long Beach story

Another amazing shoot at the beach, but this time at Long Beach. I met up with the photographer by the beach and we clicked right away. I didn’t really have a full concept, I just wanted to capture the way I was feeling, which was great! I felt good in my skin, I felt comfortable and sexy. I know it seems weird to say this out or write it down, but I think that feeling like this about oneself is unfortunately not a very common thing…it should be though!

Anyways, it was one of the last nice days at the beach before winter kicked in so we took advantage of that and I even wet my hair with the ocean. The cheapest and easiest beach waves ever, huh?

I’m wearing top and chunky sweater coat from Zara, leather shorts from Mango and accessories from Michael Kors.

Where should we shoot next? Any ideas, let me know in the comments!

A walk on the beach

One of my favorite things in Los Angeles is that you can go down to the beach anytime you want. I️ think I️ might have said that before, but it’s really true. I’m a hopeless romantic, what can I️ say?

So this time I️ met up with an upcoming photographer/filmmaker Ou Zhang (Instagram: @ouzhangstudio) to do an analog and digital shoot without any other equipment but the camera and the gorgeous sunset. Here’s what we got out of this beautiful late afternoon.

I️ am wearing a Zara dress, DKNY sweater, Chanel foundation and Maybelline matte lipstick.

Tell me about your favorite beach in the comments below.

Out of the woods

One of my first photo shoots in LA was in Pasadena and the photographer had an idea to make it a β€˜fairy lost in the woods’ theme. And you know me, I’m all for themes and creative ideas so I was on board immediately. And here’s what happened on that magical day.

I am wearing a skirt from H&M, shirt from Zara and this time no shoes! πŸ™ˆ Lipstick is a liquid matte lipstick from MAC. Recommend it if you want a great quality, long-lasting matte lipstick that doesn’t dry your lips. πŸ‘„πŸ’„

What is your favorite matte lipstick brand?

Another week in LA

So maybe it won’t be a weekly blog as there are so many things happening that I literally didn’t have time to write this. So I’m just gonna some up all the greatness that went on over the last two weeks.

First off I want to talk about Universal CityWalk. There is a whole area of Los Angeles dedicated to films, shocked, right? And this is where you go through to go to Universal Studios which is a theme park. But for people who don’t want to go to the same park, they can just walk around and see all kinds of billboards, stores and everything. So we decided to walk around and we stumbled upon this amazing wall so… Obviously I had to take a picture. 😊

On our walk we stumbled upon a line of people which is very common in the US. I don’t know why but people like to line up for things… which might be weird but when you see it you just want to get in that line to see what’s up! πŸ˜‚ so with did! And the line was for a drink called Mini Monster. It was advertised as a dessert drink but you could also get flavored lemonade. When you wanted a dessert drink you got the lemonade and on top of it you got a huge cotton candy cloud thing with sprinkles on it. It looked like nothing I’ve ever seen before. I only got the guts to try a simple lemonade though. πŸ™Š here it is!

Another day we went to see the Whitney movie about her life called can I be me? Went to this small art cinema to watch it and on the way we found a pretty cool street, so obviously, another photo op.

Last time I told you that I am a musician as well and I took time to meet with Bruce, who is a great podcaster from Florida. Now here this entertainment, that’s the name is of podcast, did an interview with me about two years ago and you can listen to it here.

This summer season stripes were so popular that I had to get a dress from ZARA before I left for LA. Not that I didn’t have like a dozen striped shirts already but you know, an addiction is an addiction… πŸ˜‚

As you may know I’m not a summer person, so it’s even more fun that I get to be in LA for the worst heat wave in decades. It’s 40Β°C for those of you who know what that means you know that it’s crazy hot. So that’s one of the reasons why you don’t see my face and my make up because it just melts right off my face so most of the time I don’t even put on any. But there are a few places where you can hide out until the heat wave is gone, and other than air-conditioned malls and your car you can always go to the beach. I guess that’s not too shabby. So you know what comes next! Yes, a photo opportunity by the beach.  πŸ˜‚πŸ’¦ so we got in the car got ourselves some nice sushi and went straight to Venice Beach to cool off.

And then Sunday night came. Those of you who are music fans know that the Video Music Awards are almost as important as the Grammys and the Brits. So we decided to check out a VMA after party in downtown LA. There were so many cool people from the music and movie scene mingling and networking and giving out business cards. I also got to experience my very first red carpet. I never thought that this was so intimidating. We have like 10/ 15 seconds to look great and pose and smile and make an impression. I tried my best but I have to admit I felt like I’m on another planet. Here’s a side picture of my red carpet moment.

Oh yes, I almost forgot, after we decided that the night was over for us we got hungry and we heard about this place, Pink’s hotdogs which is a very famous hot dog stand in Hollywood. It’s famous for the fact that whenever you go there, there’s always a line… and it’s true! There it was! And I have to admit I’m not a big hot dog person but this chili cheese dog was one of the best things that I ate here! Hats off to Pink’s hotdogs!

Have you seen Forrest Gump? What am I saying, of course you did, everyone saw that movie, it’s iconic! So in the US there’s a place, an actual restaurant called Bubba Gump and they obviously serve many kinds of seafood. And there’s one restaurant at the Santa Monica Pier which we love because of the beautiful view. So on our last day before my love had to go home, we went there and ate some great fish and chips. And you know, Americans know how to entertain and make things exciting, so that’s what they did with Bubba Gump. The whole restaurant is decorated with Forrest Gump memorabilia, quotes from the movie, pictures and there’s even a bench outside of the restaurant. I think it’s so great that when you come to the US you get what you expected or even more. ❀️

I hope you enjoyed this post and I know they are not so much about fashion, but you probably know that most of my outfits are from ZARA anyways. πŸ˜‚πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ But let me know what you think and how you like this post and if you want to hear more about fashion or whatever you want to read about. First week in LA

So I don’t know if you know this about me, but I’m a singer first and foremost. Fashion and blogging came a little bit later, BUT it became a great part of my life. πŸ™‚

To make my dreams come true I had to move the the one place where anything can happen…Los Angeles. So on August 9th I started my journey in the City of Angels. And while I’m exploring the city and finding my ways, I thought I’d write about it for you guys who are interested in my life and career and who maybe want to do the same.

So I got to LA on August 9th at 9:45pm. It was after a 27 hour travel day so we were so exhausted 😩. We went to sleep and started the next day with excitement.

We began with the necessary things and then moved on to more interesting errands like apartment hunting and finding the perfect car. Which we did, a 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer in great condition!

Then found the perfect place in a very hip and safe part of town. And it has a pool and a jacuzzi! I know it’s quiet common here, but it still gets me every time. Might be lame, but I don’t care! Lol

So after all this we started driving around in our cool car and finally started taking some photos around town. Here are the best of the best.

My first choice of destination has to be the ocean when in LA. It gives me a weird feeling of being so little in the world but also feel like I can do anything. I love it! The feel of it, the smell, the sound and the view of course. Not so much can be said about the outfit as this was middle of the heat wave, but I’m wearing denim cut-offs from Zara and yellow shirt from Stradivarius.

So this one day I was checking out my Twitter which, to be hones, I don’t do too often, and saw that Rita Ora was giving out tickets for the Teen Choice Awards, so I thought, why not try to get a pair? So I tweeted her and a few days later came a dm that I got the tickets! What?!?! This can only happen on LA! So obviously we went and had a blast seeing Rita Ora, Chris Pratt, French Montana and many more. Here I’m wearing a top, pants and shoes from Zara (addict Alertβ€ΌοΈπŸ˜‚)

Our second place that we crashed before moving to a permanent place was a luxury apartment complex downtown LA. And yes, it’s as fancy as it sounds. We were here for 10 days and had so much fun. We used the gym, the pool and the jacuzzi quiet often I must say. 😜 Although you cannot see it, I’m wearing my Zara swimsuit. πŸ˜‚

One of the coolest things in Venice is that artwork. There are so many wall paintings that it’s like being in a museum. This particular picture was taken with the ballon from a painting inspired by the upcoming horror movie “IT” that also has a real life horror house experience in Hollywood that I won’t be visiting… πŸ™ŠπŸ™€ Here I’m wearing Dior sunglasses, shirt and shoes from Zara and skirt from Free People.

I think this is the best photo to end the post with. It sums up my feeling right now. I’m happy. Even though it’s hot as hell and another heatwave is coming I still think is was one of the best decisions of my life, our lives.

The bag is from Zara as well, but you probably saw it in another post before. It is the perfect size for me right now as I tend to carry everything I need and the things I don’t need as well. I know, girls, right…? πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

I guess that’s it for the first week. I’m already at the end of the second week here and the post will come soon. So follow my blog not to miss any new posts. Leave your comments, questions in the comment section below, I’d love to hear from you.
